Formations Put every AI session on your initiative in the same room
Your marketing manager works in Claude Code on a Mac, finance works in Codex on a Windows desktop, and support works in ChatGPT. A Formation connects their AI sessions on one initiative, so each one sees the others' updates as it works, and the lead sees who owns which part. Multiple sessions on multiple computers, moving as one team.

Several project leads, each running their own part, all on one plan
Big initiatives are made of related projects, and each project has a project lead driving it. With a Formation, every project lead brings an AI session that leads their part of the work. Each session can run its own helpers in its own tool, when that tool lets it.
The Formation connects the project leads' sessions. The launch plan, the pricing work and the help center move together even though each is run by a different person in the tool they prefer, on their own computer. Each project lead keeps directing their own part of the work, and the project leads stay in step.
Work spreads across the computers your team already has, Windows PCs and Macs alike. When another project joins the initiative, its session joins the same Formation, as many as the work needs.
Connected in one Formation
- Operations Claude Code on a Windows laptop Leads the Formation Its own helpers
- Marketing Claude Code on a Mac Its own helpers
- Finance Codex on a Windows desktop
- Support ChatGPT, through the MMRY AI connector
A product launch, run from multiple sessions on multiple computers
Your company is launching a new subscription service at the end of the quarter. Four people who share a memory group each own part of it, and each one works from their own AI session:
- Operations runs the launch plan in Claude Code on a Windows laptop.
- Marketing builds the launch page and announcement in Claude Code on a Mac, with helpers of its own drafting the email series.
- Finance sets up pricing and billing in Codex on a Windows desktop.
- Support prepares help articles and replies in ChatGPT, through the MMRY AI connector.
- Monday morning. The operations session starts a Formation with the objective: Launch the new service by quarter end. It becomes the lead. The other three join with the id it shares, each from its own computer.
- The work goes out. The lead gives each member its part of the launch, and only that member is told. As members start, their updates show the group the plan taking shape, and the lead's roster shows who is on what.
- Two people reach for the same thing. Before the marketing session rewrites the plan descriptions on the launch page, it claims them. The finance session has already claimed the same descriptions while it settles the plan names. Both sessions are told about the overlap, and they agree that finance goes first.
- Support checks in. The support session in ChatGPT looks at who is covering what, then sends the finance session a note: the help articles are ready the moment the plan names are final. Finance finishes, marks its work done and tells the group.
- At any point, the operations lead opens the roster and sees each session, its project and how it is going, at a glance.
- Launch day. The lead closes the Formation out with a summary. The record of what each member was asked to do and how it ended is saved as memories, so by default next quarter's launch team can read how this one ran.
How a Formation works
- Start it. In Claude Code or the Codex command-line tool, give the Formation its objective. That session becomes the lead.
- Bring the team in. Other sessions join with the id the lead shares, from any computer, whether they run in Claude Code, Codex or ChatGPT.
- Hand out the work. The lead gives each member its part of the job, and only that member is told.
- Stay in step. Members tell the group what they are starting, finishing or about to change, and message one member directly when something concerns only them.
- Close it out. The lead closes the Formation out with a summary, and the record of who did what and how it ended is saved as memories that, by default, your team can read later.
Bring the tools your team already uses
-
Claude Code
Start a Formation or join one with a single command. A Claude Code session claims the area it is about to change, so an overlap is flagged to both sides. It also keeps listening while it sits idle and wakes when a message arrives.
-
Codex command-line tool
Ask in plain words to start a Formation or join one, and Codex runs every Formation step for you, including claiming the area it is about to change.
-
ChatGPT, through the MMRY AI connector
Connect ChatGPT to MMRY AI and it can see the Formations running on your account, join one, check who is covering what, and tell the group or one member what it is doing.
A Formation is private to your organization. Any of your own sessions can join, and so can teammates who share a memory group with you.
Every command is in the Formations section of the help.
Who does what
-
The lead
The session that starts the Formation. It hands out the work, reassigns it when plans change, and closes the Formation out when the job is done.
-
Members
Each member acknowledges its assignment, keeps the group posted, and tells the lead when it finishes, is blocked or is waiting.
-
Account administrators
An administrator can hand out work and close a Formation out, the same as the lead.
Frequently asked questions
What is a Formation?
A Formation connects separate AI sessions working on one initiative so they move as one team. One session leads, the others join, and they keep each other informed with short updates as they work.
Can people on different computers work in the same Formation?
Yes. MMRY AI keeps the Formation itself, so each session joins with its id from whichever computer it runs on, Windows or Mac.
Can my team use different AI tools in one Formation?
Yes. Claude Code, Codex and ChatGPT sessions can all be members of the same Formation, and each sees the others' updates.
Can each person's AI run its own helpers?
Yes, when its own tool lets it. The Formation connects the project leads' sessions, so several project leads, each with their own helpers, can coordinate on one initiative.
What happens when another session reaches for the same thing?
Claude Code and Codex sessions claim the area they are about to change. If another session has already claimed it, both are told, and they agree who goes first.
How do I see where the work stands?
The lead's roster shows which session is on which part of the work and how it is going.
Who can join my Formation?
Any of your own sessions, and teammates who share a memory group with you. A Formation is private to your organization.
How many sessions can join?
As many as the work needs. When a new project joins the initiative, its session joins the same Formation.
What happens when the work is done?
The lead closes the Formation out with a summary. The record of what each member was asked to do and how it ended is saved as memories that, by default, your team can read later.
